BioDB is a knowledge platform that provides accessible and curated information on the topic of bioenergy derived from agro-industrial waste. It serves not only as a source of general insights but also as a space for discussion and knowledge exchange among stakeholders interested in sustainable energy development. Through data, case studies, and policy-relevant content, BioDB aims to support decision-makers, practitioners, and researchers in understanding the potential of biomass as a renewable energy source that contributes to climate mitigation and circular economy goals.

The information presented in BioDB was developed under the Strategic Exploration of Economic Mitigation Potentials through Renewables (ExploRE) project. This initiative is funded by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) of the Federal Republic of Germany, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia, and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). As part of the ExploRE project, BioDB also functions as a collaboration hub to strengthen cross-sectoral engagement and promote evidence-based renewable energy planning in Indonesia and beyond.
